We took the bus to Chillan on a Thursday night so that we could get a bus to the ski resort of īTermas de Chillanī on Friday. The resort is based on the slopes of an active Volcano and lots of
steam can be seen seeping out of the mountain. It hasnīt
erupted since 1950 so I wasnīt too worried.
Friday morning we got up early and had a scenic 2 hour bus ride to the slopes. When we arrived there was thick cloud and you
couldnīt see more than 10 feet. We waited around for
an hour, had some breakfast and soon it was
nice and sunny. We hired some gear and hit the slopes.
Zoe got on well and put in some cool turns. The snow was a bit slushy as its the end of the season over here, they actually closed the resort 2 days after we left.

We stopped around 4pm and then booked a session in one of the thermal baths, the water in the baths is heated by the volcano, the water is black and smells of sulphar. They were very relaxing but we were only allowed 15 minutes as its so hot. We only just managed to get the bus back to Chillan as they didnt tell us where it departed from (7km from where it dropped us off - obvious really) luckily a kind couple in a pick-up truck gave us a lift to the bus.
Back in Chillan we went for a lovely meal to a Spanish
restaurant and met a chap from Ammanford. Canīt get away from bloody welshmen.
